Fury in the Sky
by Tinuviel

A brooding, throbbing restlessness
So thick it hard to catch your breath
The oppressive heat makes clothing cling
And tempers flare over each small thing.

Charcoal clouds pass over the sun
They’ve crept in unnoticed by anyone
It grows dark outside, though the sun is still high
For the clouds have quickly taken over the sky.

A few distant rumbles and flashes of light
Give notice of what’s in store for tonight
Having established itself, the storm is content
It will wait until late evening to vent.

Just after sunset, the storm draws nigh.
A sudden crash of thunder sounds the battle cry.
Windows rattle noisily as the wind attacks.
Jagged shards of lightning split the sky's deep black.

The battles continues to rage on and on
Ending finally just before dawn.
Leaving much destruction in it's path
But we have survived Mother Nature's wrath.
