Scrying
Mirrored Visions
by Sarah Fulkerson
Damasked of love and strewn with gems
She walks the shores of heaven's limbs
Sandy hues of sun-drenched hair
'Twas on that day I heard the maiden, so fair
Her gaze upon me, deep darkling eyes
Her haunting voice filled the purpling skies
And she sang:
"Feel the wind
Sad, dripping inspirational gusts
of blowing delusions and dreams
Look inside and see
the glistening hollow eyes of every alone person
this world contains
See every color blazing underneath my stars
The ever orbiting moon creates a vapor
A mist of separation
Delicately working its way around me
Cutting me off from reality
Flying, always soaring above the wall
to an unreachable illusion
Deep waters churn inside me
The bluest deepest
the coldest most deadly oceans
Containing in millions of identical particles
Filling up a mass of un solidity
An escape of some sorts
A jeweled mirage full of fanciful mermaids
Portals and dreams are becoming clearer
than the reality I so easily forget
and watch melt into black
black holes of empty nothing
The music fills my head
to blow my mind around
in songs of swaying sweetness, sadness
and red hot coals of burning thought
Never did I know such a universe could exist in one mind
No wonder I am lost, no wonder I despair
Looking for the beams of sunlight
Melting through the clouds
So used to the feeling of grey gloom
that the warm rays are soaked up and gone
like a short rain on a desert
Self on the ground
Arms spread out with palms towards the sky
I stare up in wonder at the shifting clouds
and breathe in what could possibly be
my last few breaths
Anything can happen at any moment
Everything could change in a minute
I wait, I wait."
