Lost Friendship

What has happened to our friendship?
Gone are the days when nothing stood between us
Long has it been since we shared our closest thoughts
Not unlike brown, falling leaves in Winter
our friendship has gone to sunder
Falling by the wayside, discarded, undone
How did it all come to this?
How could we let it fall away?
Was it so shallow that it wasn't worth saving?
Did either of us even notice?
Were we ever truly closest of friends?
I search my thoughts for a cause
I try to understand the reason
Have I become so invisible
Lost in my fantasy world, unreachable
I didn't know I'd shut the door
Did you know you'd shut the window?
Do we now part ways forever
Or can we find our way back together?
So this is where we stand
Both in silence and out of hand.
