An Ode to Someone Special

I lie awake with my thoughts and dreams,
That’s all I have left, or so it seems.
You were right when you said “Worth their weight in gold”,
I close my eyes you’re there to hold.

The moments we had – just me and you,
Tender kisses and dinner for two.
Your beautiful smile, those sparkling eyes,
sleepless nights and sad goodbyes.

I long to feel your warmth and hold you tight,
skin to skin, all through the night.
Until the birds wake us from our sleep,
Your mine, I’m yours, forever, to keep.

In the next life I’ll come and search for you,
So we can be together, our love be true.
The passion and love that pass between us,
Is a bond forever, now there’s a plus.

What happens next lies in the hands of fate,
too much too soon?, too little too late?
I love you with all my heart and soul.
You are the one that makes me whole.

I can close my eyes and you are there,
That gorgeous smile and beautiful hair.
Those thoughts will keep me going forever and a day,
You’re in my heart and my dreams come what may.
