Define Love
by Jim

Say something about love not said before,
Enjoyable company you want evermore.
A shoulder to cry on when times are tough,
An added strength when things get rough.
Someone who’s always there in your mind,
A person you cherish, who’s thoughtful and kind.

Sweaty palms, quick heartbeat,
Just at the thought of when you’ll next meet.
Comfortable silences, no need for a sound,
Someone you miss when they’re not around.
You enjoy their company, your time together,
Come rain or shine, no matter the weather.

Maybe a friend, whom you hold dear,
An old acquaintance that lives quite near,
The person you turn to in times of trouble,
You know they’ll come running at the double.
That special person who’s always there,
With advice and help, or time to care.

I think all of these sentences constitute love,
But can you find a line from all the above,
That explains that feeling of joy and pain,
The wanting, the having, the loss, the gain,
It tends to be different for everyone,
But as long as you taste it before you are gone.
