Shadows of Existence
by Charlene
All along, living without living, sheltered from
the decay,
Watching and rapidly gliding from day to day,
An over fondness and dependency on man's machines,
No appreciation of the stars, sun, moon or subtle breeze.
Awoken one day by tidings of premature death,
Daily routines and ludicrous dreams sneath,
Knowing no ties but those of hatred and strife,
An ice cold interior shattered by the ending of life.
Pain dissolved by time, a new sun arises,
Again there are waves and a land ignited by brightness,
Freedom forgotten, now fully restored,
A culmination of solicitude now free to soar.
Once a blinded eye, now a glimmer of hope,
Free of invisible chains, being at liberty to cope.
