Christmas Morning
by beccakiwi

I can hear their voices, whispering and giggling
"Climb on the bed John, stop all that wriggling"
Climbs up ladder his brother he joins
"Look what I got Richard", "Oh chocolate coins!"
They bounce on my bed, their eyes shining bright
"Wake up Mummy I’ll turn on the light"
Stockings in hand and cheeks red and hot
"He's been, he's been, Mummy look what we got"
Run down the stairs boys, and wait at the door
"What's in here Mummy, did he bring more?"
I go in first and prepare the way
"Come on then Mummy we can't wait all day!"
The joy on their faces a pleasure to see
"Can I open this one, is it for me?"
The day spent in chaos a wonderful thing
"Oh Mummy please don’t make us all sing"
My children my family my Christmas all true
"We love you so much Mummy, thank you"
