As I sit here, tears rolling down my face
I wonder why, we feel so out of place
My feelings for you are a secret we share
You can't return them, life is not fair

You are my friend, one I value so high
You are my friend, an angel in the sky
You are my friend, a friend so true
You are my friend and I love you

You feel confused and don't want me to feel pain
It's not your fault, you can't feel the same
I've told you that I'll always be near
I've told you I'll always be here

I want you to know you can never hurt me
I want you to know, I need you to see
No matter what you need, no matter why
I'll always be there, my angel in the sky

I said "You were beautiful", you said "Not true"
I said, "You are, please let me show you"
And I told you what I see when I look in your eyes
I told you what I see, and why I tell you no lies

You said "You must be blind to think of me that way"
If it takes being blind, then I'd be blind ev'ry day
To me you are perfect, an angel sent from above
And that is why, with you, there will alway be love

You know who you are when you read these words aloud
You know what I mean, you're not part of the crowd
This poem I write, for you, not to be impressed
This poem I write for you, so our friendship may be blessed

I care for you my darling friend
I care for you 'til the very end
I care for you, something you know
When I think of you, my love does grow
